Freight update: West Coast port timings

Container dwell times are improving, but rail connections inland remain the bottleneck for ingredient shipments.

Vessel arrivals into West Coast ports have become more predictable over the past month, and container dwell times on the dock are coming down. That is good news for importers bringing ingredients in from Asia and South America.

The slower link is now inland. Rail capacity to central Canada and the US Midwest is tight, and some shippers are seeing extra days between the port and the plant.

Our Burnaby team is booking transload and trucking alternatives where rail timing does not fit production schedules, and we are holding buffer stock in our warehouses for customers who need it.

If a delivery date matters, tell us early. We can plan the route, the warehouse stop and the final leg together.
